On July 11, 2008, Apple released the "iPhone 3G." The "iPhone 3G" cost around 200 dollars. When new phones with better updates that were life-changing came out, this iPhone was purchased less (discontinued June 7, 2010).

BlackBerry Curve 8520
In July of 2009, the "BlackBerry Curve 8520" was released. The cost of this phone was estimated to be around 100 dollars. Although this upgrade didn't have a touch screen, it did allow you to connect with your friends more and had better features than previous Blackberrys. (This phone was discontinued).

As you can see, Apple is raising prices because of the new features and buyers they are getting. This phone was slowly being purchased when new phones with more updates began to appear.
