Preston Brooks hit Summer in the head with his cane because of a speech that insulted a butler. -
Dred Scott vs. Standfrod
Dred Scott was a slave who went to places where slavery was illegal and his owner died, and he sued for his freedom. The case reached the supreme court since he wasnt a citizen he also violated Missouri law. He did not win the case. -
John brown "Harper Ferry"
John Brown was trying to inspire slaves to fight for their own freedom. Therfore he broke into the U.S arsenalmat Virginia. There were 19 people 13 whites and 5 blacks, Brown sent word to gather local slaves and no one came. He was captured and had a death sentence. -
Election of 1860
Abraham Lincoln won election of 1860. The out come was the southern states seceding Mississipi, Florida, Alabama. Georgia, Louisiana and Texas.
