The Iconoclastic Controversy took place because a Byzantine Emporere decided that Jesus' face should be taken down from a famous gate. From that point on no one worshiped the face of Jesus until 787 CE when another Emperor thought it would be okay. The images had to be regular with nothing standing out. -

The Crusades
The Crusades were started because of Pope Urban II. He wanted to take back Jerusalem from the Muslims. In order to do that, he wanted to use military force. In 1095 he had a meeting called the Council of Clairmont that discussed the need to retake the Holy cities. They succeeded, but Muslims eventually got it back in later years. -

The Great Mosque in Cordoba was built in Spain. Spain was then controlled by Muslims. It still stands to this day. -
Charlemagne is crowned.
Charlemagne is crowned King of Franks in this year. Later, in the year 800 CE he pronounces himself as the Holy Roman Emperor.
