The Classic Period
The Classic Period was considered the Golden Age of the Maya. Cities were developed including Tikal, Uaxactún, Copán, Bonampak, Dos Pilas, Calakmul, Palenque and Río Bec. Each city held a population of between 5,000 and 50,000 people. -

Around the year 600 A.D., an unknown event destroys the civilization at Teotihuacan. Also, the city-state Tikal becomes the largest city-state in Mesoamerica with approximately 500,000 inhabitants. -
