The Maya writing system had hieroglyphics which is a combination of phonetic symbols and ideograms. -

The Mayan solar calendar is built.
The Mayan calendar is actually a set of three interlocking calendars. The sacred calendar of 260 days called the Tzolkin. The solar calendar of 365 days is known as the Haab. And a Long Count calendar of much longer time periods. -

The First Pyramids are Built
Mayan pyramids were generally built of earth and then faced with stone. It was typically in a stepped, or layered, shape topped by a platform or temple structure. -
