Incandescent Lamp
Sir Joesph Swann of England and Thomas Edison both created the first incandecent lamp. This works by electricty flowing through a filiment, which has resistance to electricty, and the resistance creates high heat and the high heat is what makes the light bulb glow. -
Street Lamps
Charles F. Bush creted the carbon arc street lamp. The street lamp used mercury vapor enclosed inside of a glass tube, usually in a small bulb. -
Tungsten Filiments Replace Carbon Filiments
Irving Langmuir invented the gass filled tungsten lamp. This incandescent light bulb replaced carbon with tungsten. -
