In 1919, Britian passed a bill that allowed the government o forcibly arrest people and hold them without trial if they are suspected of terrorism.

In 1930, Britain passed a Salt Act, which placed a tax on salt. Because of this, Gandhi lead a group of many people to the ocean to get their own salt.

On January 12th, 1948, Gandhi began a fast in order to end fighting between India and Pakistan. This fast lasted for five days.
