In 1929, the great depession started. Being born in the 1930's, she had to grow up and suffer with it. his disaster was a worldwide economic depression. Joan was just born, and was exposed to the tragedy this era has to offer. All of this started when stocks dropped to an unbelievable amount; on Black Tuesday. Unemployment greatly increased. Coconaut Grove/Birthday
Joans 11th birthday,The cocoanut grove was a club in boston. It opened in 1927 Originally a garage and warehouse complex, the building had been changed and re-modeled to a one-and-a halfstory home of dining rooms, bars, and lounges. On November 28, 1942 this club was the scene of the deadliest nightclub fire in history. 432 people lied dead; and injuring hundreds. The fire was so bad, it shortly replaced World War ll on the news paper headlines.

Roosevelt, was a fifth cousin to former president Theodore Roosevelt, first came to the White House in 1933. Where he promised to lead America out of the Great Depression. On November 8th, 1960, one of the biggest presidential debates occured. There was the Republican Party. They nominated incumbent Vice President Richard Nixon, while the Democratic Party nominated John F. Kennedy, U.S. Senator from Massachusetts. Nixion was better to radio listeners, and Kennedy was better for t.v listeners. He looked better than Nixion. On March 18, 1990, a pair of thieves disguised as Boston police officers entered the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and roamed the Museum’s galleries, stealing thirteen works of art.
