    Born 1889, there were no hints towards Hitler’s malicious actions in his youth. He lived a generally average life as a child in the time period. He dropped out of school and moved to Vienna, Austria with hopes of becoming an artist. Unfortunately for Hitler, things did not go as planned.

    Drafted into the War
    In World War I, Hitler was assigned as a dispatch carrier. He earned two Iron Crosses for showing bravery on the front and was promoted to Corporal. The War was one of the biggest life-changing events in Hitler’s life, it inspired him to enter the world of politics.
  • The Beer Hall Putsch

    The Beer Hall Putsch
    Hitler and the Nazi party disagreed with the Bavarian Government’s democratic methods. Inspired by Mussolini’s peaceful takeover of Italy, the Nazis attempted to take over a Bavarian political rally in a Munich Beer Hall. This attempt at a revolution failed miserably when the Bavarian leaders escaped.

    Following the Beer Hall Putsch, Hitler and a majority of his party were charged for treason and sentenced to five years in prison. This sentence gave Hitler time reflect on his plans and write a book, titled, “Mein Kampf”. Hitler decided it would be better overthrow the government strictly through political methods, without forces of any kind.

    Rise to Power
    Through the use of Joseph Goebbels propaganda and hundreds of Hitler’s speeches, the Nazi party was able to fill the Weimar Republic Reichstag with its members. Due to this, Hitler was soon after appointed Chancellor of Germany. Paul von Hindenburg, President of Germany, died soon after Hitler’s appointment. With his death, Hitler united the Presidency and Chancellorship, naming himself, the Fuhrer.

    In Mein Kampf, Hitler proclaimed that the German people need more “Lebensraum” or, living space. Now, as Fuhrer, Hitler was able to obtain this living space. He started with the retaking of the Rhineland, then the annexation of Austria, followed by Czechoslovakia, after which he had his eyes set on Poland.

    Hitler had ignored the many warnings of war given by Britain and France before invading Poland. He believed they would back out last second like they had time and time again. Now it was too late, World War II had begun, and it wouldn’t end without a loser.

    At the beginning of the war, it seemed there would be an easy victory for Germany. They had already taken over France within eight months. Unfortunately, Britain had shown an inconceivable amount of resistance. As a solution, Hitler decided he would attack Russia in order to gain a more strategic position. Things did not go as planned, the Russian winter was harsher than anyone could’ve expected. Germany now had battles closing on them from both sides.
  • The Last Offensive

    The Last Offensive
    The War seemed to be coming to an end. Germany had lost countless battles and been pushed back hundreds of miles. The Allies were closing in on Germany, they were now in Belgium. As a last resort, Hitler had his troops hold an offensive, the first in six months. Despite their efforts, they were eventually overrun by the Allies due to lack of supplies. The fate of the Third Reich was now sealed, they would not emerge successful in this war.
  • Down to the Bunker

    Down to the Bunker
    With the Soviets invading Germany from the east, and the bombings overhead Berlin, Hitler and his associates moved into the Fuhrer Bunker. Hitler was aware of his fate if he were to be captured. To avoid such an outcome, Hitler would take cyanide pills with his wife. He went into his room with Eva. Those from the outside heard a muffled, bang, from behind the reinforced door, and the malevolent Hitler was dead.
