The escape
This was the year that Amir and Baba escape Kabul, Afghanistan. They left to Jalalabad which is southeast of Kabul. Their destination was Peshawar, Pakistan. He is now eighteen and still gets carsick. -
Baba's turning point
Baba had been feeling very sick and finally decided to go to the doctor when they tell him he is suffering from cancer. Baba refuses to change his ways and does not try to elongate the process. He is keeping it a secret from everyone while he is slowly dying. -
Soraya and Amir
Of the wedding Amir remembers sitting on a sofa with Soraya. They are covered with a veil and look at each other’s reflections in a mirror. It is the first time he tells her he loves her, and they are together for the first time that night. Shortly after, Baba dies. -
The devastating news
Amir and Soraya have been trying to concieve a baby since 1989 but by 1991 they found out they can't have one. They consider their options and think of what they could do but they keep in mind that their culture lies heavily on blood line. -
The phone call

Amir's flashback
Amir became what he is today at the age of twelve, on a frigid overcast day in the winter of 1975. He says "That was a long time ago, but it's wrong what they say about the past, I've learned, about how you can bury it." -
The healing
Amir and Assef fightingAssef and Amir fightingAmir confronts the leader of the Taliban and finds out it is Assef and he ends up getting beat up but Sorahb ends up saving him and they get away. -
The Smile
Sohrab gets mad cause he thinks Amir and his wife would get tired of him in America and that he might have to go back to an orphanage so he cuts himself and almost dies. When they get to America Sohrab doesnt speak at all but when there is a Kite Fight in the Park Amir and Sohrab participate in it and it makes Sohrab smile.
