    HI! Welcome to my timeline. My topic is the international space station. You will read ten events about the ISS from 1998 to 2013. Enjoy!
  • ISS Launch

    ISS Launch
    On that day, the International space station was launched into space. space travel was completely changed! The ISS is a place for astronauts to stay while they are in space doing research and all that jazz.
  • The First Stay

    The First Stay
    This was when the first astronauts blasted off to the ISS. The astronauts were Bill Shepherd, Yuri Gidzenko, and Sergei Krikalev . They stayed there for several months.
  • Destiny

    Destiny
    Destiny, the U.S. lab module, was sent up to space and was added to the ISS. This lab is still used for research to this day! You probably are wondering, what is a lab module? A lab module is an additive to something.
  • I'm National!

    I'm National!
    On this date, the ISS’s newest lab module, Destiny, was recognized as a national space research station. Now Destiny is the go to place for research in space!
  • Esa

    Esa
    A European lab module was added to the ISS. This lab module was nicknamed as “Esa.”
  • Kibo

    Kibo
    The first Japanese laboratory joined the ISS. This lab module is also known as “Kibo”. Fun Fact: "Kibo" means hope in Japanese. I thought that was pretty cool!
  • Happy Birthday to You!

    Happy Birthday to You!
    This is the date of the ISS’s 10th birthday! On November 2, 2010 the ISS was officially in space for 10 years! Wow! That's pretty impressive.
  • I Choose You

    I Choose You
    NASA chooses the Advancement of Science to manage the ISS. The advancement of science is a group of people that love space, (just so you know).
  • Partners

    Partners
    NASA creates a cooperative agreement to have a management partner to help manage the ISS.
  • 3,2,1 Blast Off!

    3,2,1 Blast Off!
    On this date the first national lab research flight took off! Did you know that proteins can be grown in space and that they end up being shaped like crystals? Probably not. Well, they do. And that's what that flight was all about.
