Darby tred out new methods then used coal instead of charcoal to remove iron from it's core. Factories and mines hired boys and girls to as little as age 5, who worked in harsh set-ups.Factory acts were passed to reform child labor laws.The laws reduced a child's workday and children under age 8 or 9 could no longer work.
