    "The Iliad" is an ancient Greek epic poem written by a poet named Homer. This epic poem is considered to be the earliest work in the whole Western literary tradition and one of the greatest love stories of all time. "The Iliad" recounts some of the more significant events of the Greek siege of the city of Troy and the final weeks of the Trojan War. This book conveys themes of glory and fate, and has provided story lines for other Greek, Roman and Renaissance writing pieces.

The market women grew into a very large mob of thousands. The women obtained weapons and marched to the Palace of Versailles and demanded to see the king. These events led to the end of the king's independence and symbolized a new balance of power.
