The Reaping
12 year old Prim, is picked to be in the Hunger Games. Her older, 16 year old sister, Katniss, takes her place. Peeta, a boy who is in love with Katniss, is chosen to be the male tribute in the Hunger Games. Katniss and Peeta must hurry to the capitol and do not have much time to say goodbye to their friends and family. -
Interview
The tributes each have a short interview with Caesar Flickerman. Katniss talks about herself and is truthful. When Peeta gets interviewed, he says that he is in love with Katniss. She is shocked. -
The Games Begin
On the first day, Katniss and Peeta are not allowed to see each other. When they are entering the arena, Peeta gives Katniss a sign telling her not to take the bow and arrows. -
Peeta has an alliance
Katniss sees Peeta with tributes of the most rich and powerful districts. She hears them talking about killing a girl and assumes that it is her. She runs away and hides. -
Bow and Arrows
Katniss cuts down a poisonous wasp nest into a camp some rival tributes set up. A sleeping tribute is killed and Katniss takes their bow and arrows. Peeta tells her to run away before Cato comes back. -
Katniss meets Rue
A girl name Rue sees Katniss and wants to become allies with her. They talk about their lives and get to know each other. Rue fixes the strings on Katniss's bow and Katniss heals Rue's burns. -
Death
Katniss hear's Rue singing, but the she hears a girl scream. Katniss goes to the scream and finds Rue with a spear through her body. Katniss sings to her and puts flowers on her body. -
Where's Peeta?
Katniss looks for Peeta and finds dried blood on a rock. She begins screaming his name and he replies. She finds him and takes him to a cave for protection. Peeta starts talking about dying and Katniss kisses him to shut him up. They're pretending to be in love. -
Final Day
Katniss shoots Cato in the head with an arrow. Peeta and Katniss are the two remaining tributes. Claudius, the announcer of the Hunger Games, says there can only be one winner. They threaten to kill themselves with poisonous berries and Claudius then announces the both can be winners. -
The End
Peeta and Katniss have one last interview. The Gamemakers aren't happy about two winners and them threatening to kill themselves. Katniss and Peeta say they did it out of love. After the interview, Katniss and Peeta go home and he learns that she was just pretending to love him.
