1990:WorldWideWeb

The first web browser named the WorldWideWeb(later called Nexus to avoid confusion with the World Wide Web) was created and developed by Sir Tim Berners Lee.

1992: MidasWWW

At the Standford Linear Accelerator Centre MidasWWW was built.

1992:Lynx

Lynx, a text-based we browser was created. It couldn't display images, videos or other graphic related content.

1993: NCSA Mosaic

Mosaic was created, being credited the first browser to truly popularise web browsing by displaying images embedded within text.

1995: Internet Explorer

Aug 16, 1995

Microsoft's first web browser, called Internet Explorer, was released.

1996:Opera

Jan 1, 1996

Starting as a research project for Norwegian telecoms company Telenor Opera was released in 1996.

2003: Safari

Jan 1, 2003

Apple's first web browser named Safari was released.

2004:Mozilla Firefox

The open-source browser in 2004 name Mozilla Firefox was released in the wake of the demise of Netscape Navigator at the hands of Internet Explorer.

2008:Chrome

Google's Chrome browser was launched in 2008, and has continued to get more and more popular in the upcoming years.

2015: Microsoft Edge
