When it made its grand opening on July 2,1962, he called it "Walton's" and it had "Wal-mart vistiors center" on the window. He opened this store in Rodgers,Arizona. Mr. Sam Walton is the founder and his brother Bud Walton is the co-founder. -

in 1968 Walmart Avaition hires its first pilot. the plane provided help to Sam and Bud Walton. -
Walmart Stores Inc.
on Oct 31,1969, Walmart officialy incorporated their bussness as "Walmart Stores Inc.". They had 3 or 4 stores open at the time. -
The First Walmart Distributions Center
in 1970 the first walmart distribution center and their home office in bentonville arizona were established. at this point in time walmart employed 1500 employees in 38 stores. Their sales reaching 44.2 million. They also began selling shares over the table. -
First 100% Stock Split
the first stock split they expericed was in 1971 at a market price of $47. At this time the company operated in 5 states: Arkansas, Kansas, Lousiana, Missouri, and Oklahoma. -
Moving Up....
By the middle of the decade, Walmart Inc. had 7500 employees working in 125 stores. They had sales reaching 340.3 Million. The Same year, Walmart Inc. Stores had entered Texas. -
Illinois
in 1977 they entered Illinois. Illioniois was the 10th state to have a walmart store. The Next year 1978. Walmart Inc. Bought the Hutchington Shoe Company, and brought the walmart pharmacy, the jewlery section and auto services to the public. -
Billionares....
in 1979 walmart Incorporated was the first, in a short time, to reach sales of $1,000,000,000. they then closed out the 70's with 276 stores and 21,000 employees. They also added a walmart store in Alabama. That was their 11th state. -
Another Distribution center?
in 1980 they opened their second and largest distribution center, as of now, in palastine TX. The next Year they put stores in Georgia and South Carolina. The next year after that, 1982, they went into florida and nebraska. -
Ranked #1!!
in 1983 Forbes Magazine voted Walmart #1 amoung all general retailers. Also in 1983 Sam Walton also opened his first Sam's Club in Midwest City, Oklahoma. they also opened stores in Iowa, North Carolina, New Mexico, and Indiana the same year. -

in 1984 Sam Walton did the Hula on wall street because of the 8% tax increase. David Glass was now named Presiodent of Walmart Inc. and then walmart stores entered Virginia. -
Getting BIGGGGERRR!!!
walmart Has 1198 stores and 200,000 associates, making 15.9 in sales, and marking its 25th anniversary. The company completed a satelitte linking all the stores with two communication. -

the first walmart supercener in Washington, MO opened in 1988. David Glass was then announced the cheif exuctive officer of Walmart Inc. -

Sam Walton founder of Walmart Inc. Dies at age 74. This was just weeks after President bush gave him the medal of Freedom. His son Robinson Walton was named chairmon of the board. at the time of his death, walmart operated in 42 states. -
Bud Walton
This year brung the passing of Walmart's Co-Founder Bud Walton. The company entered it's 50th state Vermont, and three in Argentina and 5 in Brazil. -
The New Millenium
They entered the new millenium with the appoiting of H. Lee Scott Jr. as the new and third CEO of Walmart Inc. Walmart was also named the third most admired company in the world. -
