    The 'jumbo jet' is also the Beoing 747 which was first flown in 1970, and is one of the worlds most recognisable aircrafts which held passenger capacity for 37 years.

    Clarksons grew rapidly from the 1960s as it was one of the first major packaged holiday operator, Clarksons had a 'pile it high, sell it cheap' mentality, Clarksons operated in Spain, mostly Benidorm as the resort grew into a popular tourist destination, however Clarksons margins were so thin so the packaged holidays came to an end.

    the Concorde was the first supersonic passenger carrying commercial airplane joint built by aircraft manufactures in Great Britain and France the aircraft first ever crossed the Atlantic of September 26, 1873 then it introduced the worlds first scheduled supersonic passenger service on January 21st, 1976 for British Airways which flew from London to Bahrain and both airlines added regular service to Washington and New York, Concorde was soon flown on chartered destinations around the world.

    Ryan Air is set up by the Ryan family, who have a share capital of only £1, they launched their first ever route in July 1985 . they used a 15-seater Bandeirante aircraft which operated daily from Waterford in the south east of Ireland to London Gatwick. in 1985 they had 5000 passengers, in 1886 they gained permission from the regulatory authorities to e allowed to challenge British Airways on the Dublin to London route. After this they had gained thousands of passengers, they now had 82000!.

    the channel tunnel is known to be one of the biggest engineering projects that has taken place in the UK. it is also now known as the longest undersea tunnel in the world. you access the train at St Pancras Station in London, and within 30 minutes you are at either Paris, Amsterdam or Brussels. there are 4.5 million tourists which part through this channel tunnel, and 1.6 million trucks that export and import goods between the two, this makes the tunnel worth about £140 billion for the economy.

    in 2010 Instagram was launched, it was launched on October the 6th, where it was initially only available to people with iOS 4, however the app had reached one million users after 2 months of the app being launched, and then by 2018 the app had one billion users, A survey was made in 2015 and it found that 48% of their users were using Instagram to help find their next holiday destination and another 35% were using it to discover new places.

    the year 2012 marked the diamond jubilee of Elizabeth II being the 60th anniversary of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II on 6th February 1952. the only other diamond jubilee celebration for any of the other queens was back in 1897 for the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria.at the celebration it concluded of a service of thanksgiving and glittering carriage procession. the celebration of the diamond jubilee brought in over 30 million tourists into the UK!

    covid was discovered on the 31st of December in 2019, when the world health organization was informed of a cluster of Pnuemonia cases of unknown cause detected in Wuhan city in China. when Covid came around our monthly air passenger arrivals to the UK fell from 6,804,900 to 112,300 this was only in a matter of a few months from February 2020 till April 2020, this was a fall of 98.3%. there is a total of 890K cases of covid-19 and a total of 11,060 deaths from covid-19.

    2020 - prince harry and meghan quit the royal family
    the couple, announced to leave the royal family on the 8th of January 2020, and they announced it on Instagram. When the couple, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced that they were leaving the Royal Family, they stated, 'we intend to step back as senior members of the royal family and work to become finacially independant while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen'. Harry also said they were leaving due to a lack of support and understanding. The couple now lives in America.

    1974 - clarksons was a very popular tour operator, which brought in alot of tourists in different countries, so when it went into liquidation, alot of people lost their way to book their holiday, meaning it effected tourism by a few less people going on holidays.

    1994 - the channel tunnel opened up another way to migrate to another country, and was alot easier for some people that an airplane, making it more accessible to more people, this effected tourism because more people was able to go to another place.

    2010 - people were posting about the places they were going so it was convincing more people to go more places, meaning more people travelling.
    2012 - the queens diamond jubilee meant that more people were visiting britain to come and watch the celebration.
    2019 - covid19 sent everyone back to their homes, but towards the end, more people starting travlling more in their own country, making more tourism in their own countries instead of travelling all the time.
