The First Writing is Recorded.
The first known writing was invented in Sumer near the Persian Gulf in Mesopotamia. This is now known as cuneiform. It was written on clay tablets and used reeds for writing tools. Around this same time the Egyptians were inventing hieroglyphics for their language.
