  • Google

    This is a multinational technical component. Used for products and services. Created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Research for Google began in 1996.
  • Web 2.0

    The first creation of a newer "social web." This type of web requires a higher level of interaction and collaboration. This also increased the amount of networks and increased the amount of communication.
  • Wikipedia

    Created by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger. This was seen as a more useful "online encyclopedia."
  • Myspace

    This was a very popular social network that made use of personal profiles. Created by Tom Anderson.
  • Facebook

    Created by Mark Zuckerberg. First was limited to college students. By the year 2006, it was made available to people ages 13+ and those with a valid email address.
  • Youtube

    A video sharing website made by Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. Created in San Mateo, CA.
  • Twitter

    Twitter was created in San Francisco, CA and currently has 25 offices all over the world. It was created by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass. This website is made for short 140-character messages to be displayed. By May 2015, Twitter had reached 500 million+ users.
  • Instagram

    Instagram is a social media site that is used for photo sharing and video sharing. It was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger. Instagram has over 100 million users. This app is made available on most mobile devices.
