    Friendster was created in 2002 and was supposed to serve as a dating app. Friends would connect through mutual friends and so on. This dating site spiked surprisingly at its peek only a year later. while this happened users quickly went elsewhere to find new faces to match with on other dating sites.

    Myspace was created in 2003 and was the new Friendster. What myspace had that Friendster didn't was the feature of public profiles which was the new must have to upload photos, videos, and music for everyone to see and access.

    The Facebook was launched in 2004. shortly after the name was changed to just Facebook which was bought for 120 mil in 2005. Facebook took off that same year. which led to many more social media sites being created in 2005 as well , one for instance "WordPress".

This was a site to create a profile and share the short rent free thoughts that appear in your head throughout the day. you could share whatever you wanted as long as you did not exceed the all of 140 character limit they gave the users. in 2017 twitter doubled that character limit!

    Tumblr launched in 2007 by David Karp a 17 year old from his bedroom. some would describe this social media as twitter and YouTube combined.

    Weibo was launched in 2009. this was simply another form of social media that acted like a twitter or Facebook for micro blogging.

    Snapchat was launched in 2011. this app soon became viral with the features of sending pictures or messages to your friends and then it vanished after 24 hours forever. later on snapchat gave user an option to save photos into a memory archive.
