    Lawrence Textile Strike
    The Lawrence textile strike was a strike of immigrant workers in Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1912. A two-hour pay cut corresponding to a new law shortening the workweek was the cause of the strike. The strike spread through the town, growing to more than 20,000 workers and involving almost every mill in Lawrence.

  • Ludlow Massacre

    Ludlow Massacre
    The Colorado National Guard and gurads from the Colorado Fuel & Iron Company attacked a camp of 1,200 strikers workers in Ludlow, Colorado. Around two dozen people, including wives and children, were killed.
  • Birmingham Campaign

    Birmingham Campaign
    A movement organized to end segregation in public facilities and racial discrimination in the workplace. The campaign consisted of marches, peaceful sit-ins, and kneel-ins. Protesters were rushed by K-9 German Shepherds and had high pressure water hoses used on them.
  • Bloody Sunday

    Bloody Sunday
    A march from Selma to Montgomery to win voting rights for African Americans. Marchers were told to turn around and go back. After march organizers tried talking to sheriff Jim Clark troopers pushed them to the ground and beat them with nightsticks. Other troppers deployed tear gas and pushed through the crowd on horseback.

    A protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention that erupted in violence. At 3:30 p.m. a young boy took down the American flag and police rushed through a crowd of 10,000 protesters and began to beat the boy.
