Logos date all the way back to ancient greece, however in the Victorian Era with more interest to the crediting of sportsmanship, exclusive logos were made. This lead to the trademark of Bass Brewery's logo in 1876. -

Paul Rand is a graphic designer who changed how many people saw advertising and graphic design, viewing it as a true art form. Releasing the book 'Thoughts on Design' in 1947, they would later be known as one of the greatest graphic designers as well as a creator and influence of many iconic logos. -

Apple Macintosh released
The Macintosh (now known as an iMac) was released in 1984. This technically wasn't the first GUI (Graphical User Interface) computer, however it was the first one to catch the public eye. This was a success and GUI would later become implemented into many digital programs, especially ones used by Graphic Designers. The iMac itself is also a commonly used work computer for Graphic Designers. -

Adobe Photoshop was an application software Adobe released that changed graphic design forever. This photo editing software was a huge success and later Adobe would be known as the creators of some of the best graphic design software to this date. -
The first online advertisement
The first online advertisement was a banner advertisement posted on a webpage (Now known as Wired) by AT&T. After this, more companies would follow this trend of advertising and more graphic designers would be put in charge on creating advertisements to place on websites. -
Global Pandemic
With the covid-19 global pandemic many graphic designers are forced to work at home. Luckily the job is mostly technology based so they're still able to work without too much difficulty however many professionals are struggling, leaving, or getting laid off. Freelance graphic designers on the other hand are increasing and seem to be receiving better results.
