    The Charter of 1732
    The Charter of 1732 created the colony of GA. It was granted to Oglethorpe by King George II. Charity, economics, and defense were the 3 offcial reasons GA was created. Rum and slavery were prohibited in GA at first. Lawyers, blacks, and catholics were banned from GA. The trustees were put in charge of GA. Trustees couldn't hold office or get paid.

  • Founding of Savannah

    Founding of Savannah
    First city founded in GA was Savannah. Oglethorpe founded this city. They sailed on the ship Anne. Tomochichi gave them permission to land at Yamacraw Bluff. They communicated through Mary Musgrove, their translator.
  • Founding Ebenezer

    Founding Ebenezer
    The Salzburgers founded Ebenezer. They emigrated out of central Europe, from where they were expelled, because of their religious beliefs.
  • Founding of Darien

    The Highlanders founded Darien. They were recruited to Georgia because they were highly capable soldiers.
  • Battle of Bloody Marsh

    Battle of Bloody Marsh
    Oglethorpe led the colonists in this battle. They faught against the Spanish. Georgia won the battle. Rangers, British regulars, Southeastern Indians, and local citizens were all people who helped fight the battle. This battle is important because it reestablished Oglethorpe's military leadership.

    Georgia becomes a Royal Colony
    The malcontents were the group of people who were unhappy with the trustees. The things that made the malcontents mad were they trustees didn't allow rum, slaves, and had restictions on land inheritance. The royal governors were in charge of Georgia when it became a royal colony. John Reynolds, Henry Ellis, and James Wright were the Royal Governors.

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was fought between the French and The American with the Indians. Great Britain won the war and were given all of the land that France had in America. The reason that this war was a cause of the American Revolution was because the colonist had to pay higher taxes to cover costs of the war.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    This proclamation granted all the western land in America to the Indians. King George granted them this land to avoid any future conflictions with the Indians, (due to the fact they just got finished fighting a war.) Th colonists were angry about this because that western land was supposed to be theirs.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act taxed all paper good in the colonies, such as playing cards, licenses, etc. The British created this tax as another way to raise money to support the costs for the French and Indian War. They were angry because they didn't want to have to pay yet another tax.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The British passed these laws because the colonists dumped ritish tea into the Boston harbor. They made these acts as a punishement. These four acts were one, the colonsts couldnt have town meetings, two, they had to house and feed soldiers whenever the soldiers needed it, three, they shut down boston ports, and four, all British soldiers had trials in england.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Thomas Jefferson was the main author of the Declaration of Independence. The declaration procclaimed that The United States of America were free from Great Britain. The three men from Georgia to sign the Declaration of Independence were Lyman Hall, Button Gwinett, and George Walton.
  • Battle of Kettle Creek

    The patriots, led by Elijah Clarke, won the battle. The only black soldier to fight in this battle was Austin Dabney. For fighting in the battle, he recieved a large piece of land, and he was allowed to keep his freedom as a black man.
  • Seige of Savannah

    The British had control over Savannah. The Patriots planned an attack to take it, helped by the French. In the end, the Patriots end up losing the battle.
