  • James Ussher

    James Ussher
In the early 16th century James Ussher conted the heneratopms of the Bible and added them to modern history, he then fixed the date of the creation of the world at October 23rd, 4004 B.C.

    Evolution Timeline

  • John Ray

    John Ray
John Ray implied that humans were a part of nature, he believed that humans were deciendants of apes, monkeys and prosmians. He also placed us in the order primates.
  • Carolus Linnaeus

    Carolus Linnaeus
Carolus Linnaeus' most impo science was a lassification rtant contribution to the development of evolution by creating a classification system for all living things. He gave organisms trwo Latin names - Genus and Species.
  • Comte De Buffon

    Comte De Buffon
Comte De Buffon believed that organisms changed over time meaning that species could evolve into a superior species, He believed that humans were the decendants of apes.
  • George Cuvier

    George Cuvier
George Cuvier divided the animal groups in to four "Branches". They are: Vertebrata, Articulata, Mollusca and Radiata. Curvier was the first scientist to document the extinctions of ancient animals such as dinosaurs.
  • Jean Baptiste de Lamarck

    Jean Baptiste de Lamarck
Jean Baptiste de Lamarck created the first systematic presentation of evolution. He believed that certain specimens adjusted to their habitat, such as if snakes had originally of had legs but they had a hard time walking because they couldn't trample the tall grasses or reach the ground, Lamarack believed that the snakes adjusted by starting to slither on their bellies therefor causing their leg muscles to wither away.
  • Richard Owen

    Richard Owen
By 1830, Owen had identified and labelled all the 13,000 specimens in the collection and published a catalogue. By now he was an expert in comparative anatomy - the study of anatomical features of different animals.
  • Charles Lyell

    Charles Lyell
Charles Lyell believed that the Earth was much older then we had thought and that the creation of the land we have today was created by a slow natural force such as, Earthquakes, Volcanos, Glacial Movements and even the decomposition of plants and anaimals.
  • Alfred Russel Wallace

    Alfred Russel Wallace
Alfred Russel Wallace helped the development of evolution by going on a trip to Brazil in the mouth of the amazon and collecting/selling specimens, by doing this he had given us great insight to many specimens.
  • Charles Darwin

    Charles Darwin
Charles Darwin believed that all living organisms are decendants from common ancestors. As to say that all living organisms are connected, for example a flower and a fish, Darwin believed that somewhere in history a genetic mutation occured to the non-living organism and caused it to create a living organism.
