    With over 50 notable gangs on record for the city of chicago, the inner city became the most fierce with violence and children in poverty began to come up in a warzone resulting in acting out and maturing very quick.
  • Juveniles on the rise

    Many kids and upcoming teenagers in the south side chicago neighborhoods where it was almost fatal to walk to the bus stop in the morning, birthed a fierce and bloodthirsty group of teenagers who sold drugs and committed crime to sustain living.
  • Chief Keef releases Love Sosa

    Many say due to the hit single by one of chicago's most famous rappers, drill music began and kicked off. Along with this came the mixtape "Finally Rich" which many also say is the first notable drill tape.
  • Drill music gains attention and popularity within Chicago

    With Love Sosa blowing up, a short matter of months later more young men from chicago neighborhoods came and began to produce and make music as well, rappers such as Lil Durk, Fredo Santana, Lil Reese and many others.
  • Chicago too fatal to live in

    With the emergence of rappers coming up and out of the "trenches" as the south side of chicago is referred to, fame brings issues and many upcoming artists didn't make it out of the inner city.
  • Drill Music moves across the world

    After popularity was brought to the inner city, it picked up traction in a place nobody thought it would. The United Kingdom, after the catchy beats and production of this music rose to fame, it was very well liked in British countries and became a subgenre of a type, many composers and groups came about and "UK Drill" was born.
  • Attention of artists gained

    With features coming from high selling artists such as Kanye West and praise from many others, it became clear that the potential in this subgenre was there and it could only become greater as time went on

    With this signing, the young artist from the inner city began his career with his own style, and despite controversy from rap legends due to the "different" style of music. With this burst onto the scene from Keef, he also brought many affiliates from the inner city who began music and drew attention to the city and style of music.
  • Aspiring artists

    With the emergence of 2 popular new faces in the drill scene, Lil Herb and Lil Bibby, 2 friends from the southside who despite being talented on the basketball court, got into the streets and released the hit song "Kill Sh*t" which has over millions of views to this day.
