    Water Clock
    This was a prototype of our modern alarm clock created by the Greeks. The "water clock" ,also called a clepsydrae , was where raising waters would both keep time and eventually hit a mechanical bird that triggered an alarming whistle. These were much more useful than sundials, because they could be use indoors and outdoors.

    In 1504, the first portable watch was created by Peter Henlein. in Nuremburg, Germany. The first reported person to actually wear a watch on the wrist was the French mathematician and philosopher, Blaise Pascal.

    The first mechanical alarm clock was invented by American Levi Hutchins of Concord, New Hampshire, in 1787. It could only ring at 4 A.M. In 1876, a mechanical wind-up alarm clock that could ring at any time, was patened by Seth E. Collins.
