The NATA wascreated to enhance the quality of health care provided by certified athletic trainers and to advance the athletic training prifession. -
First athletic Curriculum Model developed
This curriculum prepares students for athletic training and teaching. It also included courses that were pre-requisites for physical therapy schools. -
Undergraduate Athletic Training Programs Recognized
The first undergraduate athletic training programs were officially recognized by NATA. -
First cerfitication examination held
The first certification examination was held. NATA Profession Education Committee also compiled a list of objectives to define athletic training as a major course of study and to eliminate it as a secondary-level teaching credential. -
NATA approved curriculum to have an athletic training major of study
It approved all undergraduate programs to offer a major in athletic training in all athletic education programs. -
Approval of graduate athletic training programs
NATA approved graduate athletic training programs. -
Athletic Training as a major of course of study
Athletic training was used as a major of course of study in at least 10 colleges and universities. -
AMA recognized athletic training as an allied health profession
the American Medical Association recognized athletic Training as an allied health profession for the first time. -
Accredited Entry-level programs
The first two entry level athletic training education programs accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation were at Barry University and High Point University. -
NATA board of directors adopted reccommendations
The NATA Board of Directors adpoted several reccommendations submitted by the NATA Education Task Force to address the education and professional preparation of certified athletic trainers. -
World Federation of Athletic Training Task Force was created
The Task Force was created to explore an international system for the athletic training system. -
