The ARPANET sent the first electronically developed message in 1969. From here, these electronic messages were further studied until text messages could be developed and created by easier and simpler means. -
The First "E-Mail" Program is Used, Along with the Use of @
Computer scientists have been using and experimenting with electronic messages since the 1960's. It wasn't until Ray Tomlinson, another experimenting computer scientist, developed the SMDMSG which would soon become the first used email program. He addressed emails using the @ symbol. -

The ARPANET took control of the transmission control protocol/Internet protocol in 1083. From here, the development of network connecting and development for the internet began. -
The Use of .com is Made Public
The use of administrative entries such as .com, .org, etc. was introduced by the internet pioneer Dr. Jon Postel. He also happened to be apart of the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) which publicized the use of the entries for domain pages. -
Funding is Started for Google and Established Soon After
The co-founder of the company Sun Microsystems, Andy Bechtolsheim, donated $100k towards the creation phase of Google. Only 10 years later, Google was established and made public. -
The Use of WWW is Proposed
CERN member Tim Berners-Lee saw that many nuclear scientists were having trouble sharing information, much similar to ARPANET. His solution was to propose the use of the (WWW) World Wide Web, which would soon be experimented on. As CERN describes, the proposal of the WWW project was Tim Burners-Lee's way of saying "I'd like to invent the Web." -
The Establishment of Yahoo
It was originally crated by two students studying electrical engineering for their PhDs: David Filo and Jerry Yang. It was created with the purpose to broadcast random yet fascinating online forums. -

The first internet archive was created by Brewster Kahle who worked in the WAIS (Wide Area Information Servers). His goal was to archive virtually everything on the internet, and make it available to everyone for free. -

Macromedia Flash was created in 1996 by the company FutureWave Software. It served as one of the first popular pen-to-tablet computer drawing softwares, and was a revolutionary way for illustrators to create images and animations without using pens or paper. Nowadays, it is installed on over 95% of all PC's. -

Wikipedia is one of the largest non-profit (but still funded) online websites for local information. It originally worked with the .com domain entry, but later switched to a non-profitable website being the first to allow the public to edit the web pages. -

The Apple iTunes Music Store is the first historically known online store where you could legally download (and purchase) music. Within just 24 hours, it sold over 24 million songs. -
The Creation of YouTube
YouTube was established in 2005, back when Flash-created videos and online videos in general were becoming very popular. It was founded by three former PayPal workers, who then sold the company to Google for over $1.6 billion.
