Daniel Boone and road
Daniel Boone was an explorer and pioneer . In 1769 he explored the Native American trail through the mountains . The trail was called warriors’ path which led him through the Cumberland gap . He did this after he rounded up men to go on the path and cut down trees . This path is now called the wilderness road which became a highway for the people . More than 100000 people had traveled the highway between the years of 1775 - 1790 -
The toll roads of Ohio
The nation good roads to travel on and ship goods on . So to build the roads many private companies would and would make it a toll road that the people that were trading on the road had to pay . Most of these road were made of crushed up rocks . When Ohio finally became a state in 1803 they needed a highway to go west . So congress finally approved the funds for the road after five years . The work on the road began in 1811 and the road was not finally opened until 1818 . -
Did Spain really save Mexico.
Spain started losing power elsewhere in it empire . In 1810 a priest named Miguel hidalgo led a rebellion in Mexico . His rebellion was against racial equality and the redistribution of the land . But then Spain captured this guy and Mexico was given it independence thanks to Spain . -
After the war of 1812
In 1816 James Monroe ran for presidential election and faced no serious opposition. Which made the federalist weakened by doubts of their loyalty during the war . Which made them barely survive as a party. Monroe ended up winning the election . In 1817 his last message to congress was about growing nationalism and strong loyalty to the nation and asked government to guide trade . The war of 1812 made it clear that Jefferson’s idea of a limited government could not meet the idea of the peoples . -
Did Missouri ruin it all
In 1819 the Missouri territory asked the congress for admission as a state . A lot of Missouri settlers came from Kentucky and Tennessee because they allowed slavery. A lot of them in congress thought slavery ought to be illegal. Then the House of Representatives pass it but the senate stopped it . Right now there was 11 free and 11 slave states and congress didn't want that to change.
