    The Spanish Influenza was the most severe pandemic. Hospitals were overfilled with patients that schools and building had to be converted to hospitals so that everyone could be treated. The Spanish Influenza killed over 50 million people.

    On this day, the Archduke of Austria-Hungary was shot by Gavrilo Princip. This even is often considered the spot for World War 1, which would grow because of exchanging alliances.

    The British ocean liner Athenia, was sunk by a German U-30 submarine which they thought the liner was armed. They are allies with France and would back them up in the war against Germany.

    Austria-Hungary declared war on Russia on August 6th. But if the didn't, the Russian’s would have finished mobilizing and declared war by invading Hungary. Austria- Hungary were allies with Germany and were going to fight along Germany.

    The German U-boat was torpedoed by the British-owned luxury steamship Lusitania. killing 1,128 people including 128 Americans. This event immediately strained the relations between the Germany and the neutrality with the United State. It fueled anti-German sentiment and set off a chain of events that eventually led to the United States entering World War 1.

    Woodrow Wilson was the first Democratic president to two elected to two consecutive terms of office. He defeated Supreme Court Justices Charles Evens Hughes. This election happened while World War 1 was still going on and Mexico were going through the Mexican Revolution.

    The election happened during WWI, one other candidate who is Hughes. Hughes criticized Wilson for not taking the necessary preparations which this only made Wilson's image strengthen.

    It was a message very beneficial for Germany and Mexico was deciphered in January 1917 and because of this information/intel kinda forced the United States into war against Germany along with the United States allied the countries.

    President Wilson wanted the United States to stay neutral but because of the German's decisions to torpedo a British merchant ship that was carrying munitions, killing 128 Americans. Wilson took actions against Germany to end attacks on merchant ships. It was also influenced by the Zimmerman telegraph, "a missive sent by German Foreign Minister Arthur Zimmerman to Germany’s Mexican ambassador promising to help Mexico reclaim U.S. land in exchange for support in the war."

    President Wilson asked Congressed for a declaration of war against Germany. The Us senate voted and it was agreed. Later, Germany got the message that there will be war.

Anyone found guilty of such acts would be subject to a fine of $10,000 and a prison sentence of 20 years."

    The treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28th of 1919 which ended World War 1. Britain, France and the United States all had different plans for the treaty to make Germany pay for the damage. In the agreement, Germany declared the blame for the war, pay reparations, and demilitarized Rhineland.

    The treaty of brest- Litovsk was a peace treaty between Russia and the Central Powers. The treaty was sign on March 3rd in the year of 1918. This event let to Russia ending their participation to World War 1.

    On the 11th day of the month in 1918, the Germans and the U.S. declared an armistice is an agreement between both countries to stop fighting and to surrender. Germany negotiated an armistice because both sides had suffered too many deaths.
