    Three years after the German chancellor Otto von Bismarck made an alliance with Austria-Hungary, Italy joined in. This initial alliance of these three powers became known as The Triple Alliance, and this is one of the two main forces in World War 1. The Triple Alliance end up losing the war.

Itlay left the Triple Alliance because they accused Austria-Hungary and Germany of unjustly starting the war.
