After the stock market crash fo 1929, around 80% of the iundustry was no longer producing and by 1932 large numbers of Detroit's citizens were dying of starvation. The Ford Motor Company laid off 2/3 of its employees. The former, current Ford workers as well as unemployed members of the commiunitiy marched to the company in response. Encountering police on the way they still marched on. Ended with 4 dead marchers. -

3 day Dust Storm
A 3-day dust storm blows through about 350 million tons of soil off of the terrain of the West and Southwest and deposits it as far east as NY and Boston. -

Memorial Day massacure
Striking Republic Steel workers and sympathizers attempted to establish a picket line at the front of the mill in Chicago. The marchers met a line of Chicago police officers that opemed fire on them. 10 marchers died from police bullets and numerous injured. -
Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA)
This act, passed by FDR, authorized crop loans, crop insurance against natural disasters, and large subsidies to farmers who held back crop production. -
