Charles Coughlin created a radio station called the "Radio Priest". During the Great Depression radio was very important because it kept citizen's mind's off of the problems they had. His station averaged 30-45 million listeners a week. -
The Stock Market Crash
Stocks had been going up during the 1920s so more and more people invested in stocks. A few tiny crashes had happened throughout the year which showed a sign that it would soon be bad. In late October stock prices plummeted. -

New York's Bank of the United States collapses in the largest bank failure to date in American history. $200 million in deposits disappeared. -
Unemployment Reaches Highest Peak
The unemployment rate at this time was 24.9% This is important because it showed how many American's were out of work during the Great Depression. -
The New Deal Begins
Rosevelt enacted his New Deal during these next 100 days. This helped pull us out of the Great Depression. -
The CCC is founded
These were Roosevelt's employment camps. They helped employ millions of Americans. -
Roosevelt's Reelection
Roosevelt won the 1936 by a landslide. Many Americans favored him because his New Deal had became popular with them and they believed it would eventually bring them out of the Depression. -
World War II begins
It began with Germany attacking Poland. This war began as the Great Depression ended.
