    Late one night, when we were all in bed,
    Mrs. O'Leary lit a lantern in the shed.
    Her cow kicked it over,
    Then winked her eye and said,
    "There'll be a hot time in the
    old town tonight!"

    Tuesday Oct 10, 1871 was the day the fire was put out, it took two full days of work to put out the big fire. The fire killed 300 people, and destroyed 3.3 Square Miles (9 KM2), and left 100,000 residents homeless.
