Harvey milk Appointed to the Board of permit appeals.
George Moscone, mayor of San francisco appoints Harvey Milk to the Board of Permit Appeal, making Mr.Milk the First open gay city commissiner in the United States. Milk then goes on to run for California State Assembly. Monscone is forced to fire him from the Board of Permit Appeals after only five weeks. Milk also co-founds the San Francico Gay Democratic Club after his lost election. -

About 75,000 people marched on Washington for Lesbian and Gay rights in Washington D.C in October. It was the largest political gathering for LGBT rights to date. -
