    The Demise of the Bourbon Monarchy
    At the beginning of the French Revolution Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette ruled France from 1774 and ends in 1789. During this period of time France suffered from economic and political problems due to war debt. The third Estate got locked out of the Estates General, while the storming of the Bastille and the debates at the Tennis Court led to the end of the Bourbon Monarchy.

During the presence of the National Assembly the first Constitution, which set up the National Convention, was created.

    The Storming of The Bastille
    The storming of the Bastille occurred in Paris 1789. While educated people, the bourgeoisies, of the third estate called on the estates general to demand change, urban workers and farmers stormed the Bastille to protest against the clergy and monarchs. Today ,in France, the 14th of July is a holiday as a reminder of the begin of the French Revolution

    The Reign of Terror

Its purpose was to purge France of internal enemies, who were people that were against the revolution or supported Monarchy. During the reign of terror more than 30 000 people were killed, including Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinne.

    The second constitution, written by the National Convention, is also known as the constitution of year III. It was more conservative than the abortive democratic Constitution of 1793, because it set up a bicameral legislature directory.

It is a five-member committee. But it was plagued with corruption and severe national economic problems. 1799 the government was overthrown by Napoleon Bonaparte in the Coup d'etat.
