    What? Louis XVI summoned the Estates-General to meet in Versailles in 1789. Who? Louis XVI When? 1789 Where? Versailles Why? France was on the verge of bankruptcy, bread riots were spreading, and nobels, fearful of taxes, and were denouncing royal tyranny. How? Finally after 175 years, Louis called the Estates-General metting.

    What? Delegates of the Third Estate declare themselves to be the National Assembly to solve the financial crisis and insist on reform. Who? The delegates of the Third Estate. When? 1789 Where? Versailles, France. Why? They wanted to create a constitution to help pay the governments debt. How? The Third Estates delegates took an oath which declaired themselves as the National Assembly.

    What? The city of Paris seized the spotight from the National Assembly meeting in Versailles Who? The Parisians. When? 1789 Where? Paris, France. Why? Rumors spread that the king planned to dissolved the Assembly. How? More then 800 Parisians assembled outside the Bastille and broke into war.

    What? The Nobles in the National Assembly voted to end their own privileges and declare the right of man. Who? The National Assembly. When? August 4, 1789 Where? France. Why? Abolish Feudalism and have equal rights for all men. How? They agreed to give up their old manorial dues, exclusive hunting rights, special legal status, and exemption from taxes.

    What? Well-trained Prussian forces were cutting down raw French recruits and royalist officers were deserting the French army, joining emigres and others hoping to restore the king's power. Who? Prussian Forces. When? Ausgust 10, 1792 Where? France. Why? To dismiss news about the war abroad heightened tensions. How? A crowd of Parisians stormed to the royal palace of the Tuileries and slaughtered the king's guards.

Before long, Napoleon became the ruler of France.
