In 1789, King Louis XVI was in big trouble because France was ruined. He called a meeting with the States General. On July 14 of 1789, Paris, decided to confront the king and went to the Bastille. When they took it, it was like a resistance party. The Assembly wasted no time and passed numerous laws. The Assembly approved the Constitution of 1791. Finally, in September 1791, the Assembly had done its job, and gave way to the new one, the Legislative Assembly.
