The Old Regime
The political and social system in started to separate into three estates, clergy, nobles and the others. During this time everyone was a subject to the king as well as a member of a province and a estate. -
Economic Troubles
During the 1780's the french started having economic troubles, France’s once prosperous economy was in decline as well as bad weather caused crop failure resulting in severe shortage of grain. -
Beginning of the Revolution
The French Revolution started, the third estate won the voting and made the decisions to begin the revolution. -
Escape
This was the royal families failed attempt to escape France. Their plan was to go by coach to montmedy which was a fortress near the border of Germany. During their jurney when they were almost safe a local postmaster recognized king louis and they were imidietly detained and taken back to paris -
New Constitution
a new constitution was made by the government and approved by king louis which gave him a limited constitutional monarchy. -
The Guillotine
The guillotine was created to be able to kill people fast and efficient without the people suffering. -
King Louis Death
King louis XVI was executed with a guillotine then six months later her wife Marie Antoinette was acused of treason by a tribunal and in october followed her husband steps and was executed by the guillotine -
New Ruler of France
Since king louis XVI was no longer alive Maximilien Robespierre became the new leader of France and was basically a dictatorship and his time as leader was known as “the reign of terror” -
The betrayal of Maximilen Robespierre
Members of the national convention went against maximilien and wanted him to be arrested and execution. Which he was later killed by the guillotine. -
The New Goverment Plan
The national convention made a new government plan in which the upper middle class was given power, 2 house legislature and 5 executive men known as the directory.
