Old Regime
The Old Regime remained. The King still ruled. People in France were divided into three estates. In the first two states there were rich and privaleged people, and in the third state it was 97% of the population in France that were poor and disadvantaged. -
Economic Troubles
France started going into economic troubles because of poor investments and a waste of money. In addition bad weather caused crop failures that resulted in severe shortage of grain. -
Refusion of lending money
Louis faced serious problems because the bankers refused to lend money to the government. -
The Assembly
The National Assembly voted to establish, in effect proclaiming the end of the absolute monarchy and the beginning of a representative democracy. This was was a revolutionary assembly formed by the representatives of the Third Estate. -
A great fear sweeps France
Persian women rioted over the rising of the price of the bread. First, they demanded that the National Assembly have bread. Then they got angry with the king and the queen. They even broke inside of the palace and killed some guards. Then after some time, Louis agreed. -
The Attempt of Escape
King Louis XVI, Queen Marie Antoinette, and their family attempted to escape from Paris to counter-revolution at the head at Montmédy. -
Declare War on Austria
Revolutionaries wanted war because they thought a war would unify the country, and would spread the ideas of the Revolution to all of Europe. -
Abolition of the Monarchy
During the French Revolution there was a proclamation by France. This was a proclamation by the National Convention of France that abolished the French monarchy. -

King Louis XVI is executed by guillotine in the Place de la Revolution in Paris. Before that he was sentences to death by the French National Convention -
