It was a british military expedition led by John Forbes, During the French and Idian war. The expedition constructed a road across what is now southern Pennsylvania, but was then largely Indian territory. Its objective was to capture Fort Duquesne, a French Fort constructed at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers. -

Forbes Expedition
When the expedition neared to within a few miles of Fort Duquesne in mid November, The French abandoned and blew up the fort. 3 units of scouts entered the smoking remnants of the fort under the orders of Colonel Geroge Washington on November 24. General Forbes, who was ill with dysentery for much of the expedition, visited the ruins and died not long afterwards. -

British soldiers under the command of General Wolfe in the battle of the Plains Of Abraham, which was part of the 7 years war, climbed the steep cliff, under the city in the darkness, suprising and defeated the French. Both Wolfe and the French commander, The Marquis de Montcalm, died of the wounds, but the battle left control of Quebec City, to the British, eventually controlling Canada, which ended on September 18th. -

Pontiac's Rebellion
Pontiac forces made up of Ottawas and reinforced by Wyandots, Ojibwas, and Potawatamis. His first siege failed, so 900 warriors from half a dozen tribes helped him stretch into British territory. Pontiac defeated the British detachment at the Battle Of Bloody Run, but he was unable to capture the fort, So quickly after he lifted the siege and withdrew to the Illionois county.
