Battle of Monongahela
The Battle of Monongahela happened on this date. General Edward Braddock lead the British, who had 1,300 men. He was shot in the chest, so the British started to retreat. Braddock eventually died of his wounds. The battle killed 456 British, and 422 were wounded.

The attack of Ft. William Henry was lead by French general Montcalm. The fort was located at the southern end of Lake George.

A Slow Route to Victory
The British take Fort Niagara and the French leave Crown Point. After the British had these two victories, they claimed land on the western frontier.

Treaty of Paris
Britain won the Seven Year's War when it ended in 1763. The British claimed North America east of the Mississippi River, and Spain had land west of the Mississippi.

Smallpox
The man at Fort Pitt gave blankets infected with smallpox to Indians. The British wanted them to get infected by the disease, and the Indians eventually retreated.
