    It started in 541. The plague came from boats coming from Egypt. The boats would be carrying grain to trade. When they would dock before they went to get the grain. Rats infected with the plague would get in the grain and get the people sick.

    Basil the second was the ruler after Justinian. When he started ruling the Byzantine Empire, it had a slow hill decline. The ruler after Basil the second did not do well when he ruled. After Basil the second died the Crusaders started attacking. When they would attack it would weaken the towns and the country in general.
