Sundial
Sundials were the earliest form of time keeping. The sundial was invented by Mathematician and Astronomer Theodosius of Bithyia.
They allowed people to have a means of time and when to be places and do things. "Timekeeping in the Ancient World: Sundials." Sundials. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -

Candle Clock
The inventor of the candle clock isn't known for sure, but the clock helped many to tell time while using the candle for light. It is much different from the previous clocks in that it uses candles to tell when 10 minutes have passed. "Candle Clock: History, Facts, and Limitations." Buzzle. Buzzle.com, 05 Jan. 2015. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -

Weight Clock
The inventor is unknown, but the weight-driven clock was very useful and slightly more accurate compared to previous clocks. The clock was commonly found in wealthier homes due to the expensiveness of the device. "History of the Clock." History of the Clock. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -

Hourglass Clock
The inventor of the hourglass is French Monk Liutprand. The time-keeper used sand to time an hour at a time and couldn't be used for all day time ike the sundial or the water clock. How Does an Hourglass Measure Time?" How Does an Hourglass Measure Time? (Everyday Mysteries: Fun Science Facts from the Library of Congress). N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -

Spring-Driven Clock
The inventor is Peter Henlien and introduced a more sophisticated version of the clock compared to the previous clocks. People could use them more because they more portable and were more accurate. "HISTORY OF CLOCKS." HISTORY OF CLOCKS. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -
Cuckoo Clock
The inventor is Mary Louisa Molesworth, who was the first female clock inventor and innovator. The Cuckoo clock was a more decrotive version for kitchens and design. "Klockit - History of Cuckoo Clocks." Klockit - History of Cuckoo Clocks. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -
Pendulum Clock
The inventor is Christiaan Hueygens who was was a mathmatician. The pendulum clock had a large swinging weght that would ring when an hour had passed. Grandfather clocks are a common type of pendulum clock. It is similar to the weight clock, but it is more sopisticated and uses one weight. Infoplease. Infoplease, n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -
Quartz Clock
This is still among the most commonly used clocks in the world. The inventors are J.W. Horton and Warren Marringson. They collaborated to make a new version of a clock with more accurate timing and precision compared to primitive time-keeping methods. "The Evolution of the Quartz Crystal Clock." IEEE UFFC. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -
Digital Clock
This is the most "futuristic" clock yet and the most modern. The inventor is Austrian engineer Josef Palwebber. This is the most alien of the clocks and uses digital numbers to directly tell time without having to think. People today can now see time quicker and more accurately with the digitall clock. "Digital Clocks and Watches – past and Present." World Time Zones. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015. -
Water Clock
This clock was invented by the Egyptian Pharoah Amenhotep the first. It used the weight of water in two pales and a tube steadily moving water from pale to pale and telling when each hour had passed. It was used commonly in the Egyptian areas. It's different from a sundial in that it uses water instead of the sun to keep time. "Timekeeping in the Ancient World: Water-clocks." Water-clocks. N.p., n.d. Web. 07 Oct. 2015.
