The NES console was a huge success, mostly because of the hit game "Super Mario Bros." It had a horizontal game-pad, which was new for video game users. Also, games had to be licensed before they could become a part of NES. -
Super Nintendo Entertainment System
Super Nintendo Entertainment System was released in response to competition. It contained upgraded versions of the games that were successful in the NES such as "Super Mario World" and "Mega Man X." The graphics and sound were improved and shoulder-buttons were added. -
Nintendo 64
This console was very popular for the first two years after it was released. Then PlayStation was released and it could not compete with them due to the large amount of games that were available in PlayStation's library. -
Nintendo Game Cube
The Nintendo Game Cube used mini DVDs. In order to save game data the system used memory cards. It was the only console to offer four control ports. -
Wii
Nintendo released games to Wii so players can play their games on the Wii console.
