A company named Beyerdynamic invented the first dynamic headphones. These are still in production today and they were used for listening to audio signals but had much better quality. -
John C. Koss Commercial Headphones
John C koss, who was a milwaukee based jazz musician, designed and made the first commercial headphones. They could be used by home by the regular population. Let the user listen to the radio much clearly -
Koss EP/6
The Koss EP/6 were the first Electro-static headphones made. They were lighter and had less sound distortion. These led Koss to dominate the headphones industry. -
The Sony Walkman
The walkman revolutionized headphones and music for listeners forever. The walkman made it possible to listen to music on the go any where. The Headphones that came with the walkman were MDR-3L2. These were the lightest headphones till date and allowed for better listening as they would isolate sound better. -
Circumaural Can Headphones
These are the Headphones you would get on a Airplane ride. Extremely light and cheap. They used a foam cover for the ear and aluminum and plastic, creating headphones that would last for a long time. These dominated in the 80's and 90's. -
Apple Headphones
Apple came up with their own rendition of the earbuds. They didnt invent them but Apple made them extremely famous, as instead of having them being put over the head. It allowed the user put them directly in the ear. -

Skull Candy took the Headphones and completely transformed them into something more stylish and more appealing to the user. This changed headphones from then till now. The shape and materials used would be used for a decade. -

From Beats by Dre to ROC by Ronaldo. Headphones have become a fashion Statement. They are sponsored and used by several Celebrities and through this, the Headphone industry is getting more money to create better headphones. -
Wireless headphones
Though the Wireless Headphones have been out for almost a decade. They havent benn relevant till now as newer technologyn has made them better. The wirless headphones are lighter and allow for the user to wear them around their neck, but they also come in different shapes and have different abilities. Beats by dre, Sony, Microsoft, Bose have all made regular headphones wireless. -
