  • Tennis for Two/ Early Console

    Tennis for Two/ Early Console
    Usually referred to as the original video game, tennis for two was created in Brookhaven National Laboratory. The game was designed to showcase the functionality of the oscilloscope and was capable of simulating multiple trajectories and even wind resistance. Safe to say, when William Higginbotham designed the game, no one could've predicted its success. But, sadly, years later the game was dismantled.
  • The Magnavox Odyssey/ First Generation Console

    The Magnavox Odyssey/ First Generation Console
    Widely overshadowed by Pong in all categories, The Magnavox Odyssey is the very first home console. It was a cartridge-based design and ran on analog signals rather than digital signals. The Magnavox Odyssey came with a handful of games including Table Tennis, Submarine, and Analogic. Games on the console could either be played alone or with a friend.
  • Pong/ First Arcade Console

    Pong/ First Arcade Console
    First released by Atari in 1972, Pong was an instant classic. The game quickly became a household name. It has laid the groundwork for the most famous arcade games and proved that simplicity isn't always a bad thing, as it was built into a dedicated console. But, as the months went on, Atari desired to create something more.
  • Fairchild Channel F/ Second Generation Console

    The Fair Child Channel F was very similar to The Magnavox Odyssey in terms of Looks, but it was very different in terms of hardware. The Fairchild Channel F was the first console to use a microprocessor as well as ROM cartridges to store games. Its small stature and handheld controllers quickly earned it a top spot as one of the best gaming rigs of the decade.
  • Famicom(NES)

    The NES is one of the most notorious consoles ever built. This is because following the Game crash of 1983, Nintendo released the NES onto US streets. This revitalized the spark for gaming that the US had previously had. The NES was also the first ever console to include 8-bit graphics.
  • TurboGrafx-16

    Although being less commonly known, the Pc engine was the first of the fourth generation of gaming consoles. It used a modified 8-bit CPU and only a 16-bit color encoder and a 16-bit video display controller. Though, its lack of actual 16 bit graphics left the North American Market unsatisfied and it continually sold poorly.

    The PS1, like so many other consoles, was the first of a new kind of system with better graphics and performance. Instead of storing games on cartridge's, the Ps1 was designed to be compatible with CD Rom. It was also the first console that introduced 3d graphics.
  • Dreamcast

    The Dreamcast was released first in japan 1998 by SEGA. It came with a controller that contained a mini screen which could run primitive games. And the console supported data transfer between VMUs. Overall the system sold well, but was not particularly special.
  • Xbox 360

    The, wildly famous, Xbox 360 was the second installment of consoles into the market by Microsoft. It is widely considered one of the best consoles of all time. something that Microsoft did that no other company had done before was develop a wireless controller. This alone shook the gaming community. Lets not forget the massive amount of titles that released with and backwards compatibility. Truly a marvel of its time.
  • Wii U

    The successor to the Wii, the Wii U was the first in the eighth generation of consoles. Needless to say the Wii U Flopped massively. It had worse graphics and processing power than previous generations which limited its game selection. It was also way overpriced for the entertainment it could provide.
  • The PlayStation 5

    As of the newest generation of consoles, the PS5 is the best one on the market. It had extremely upgraded gpu and cpu compared to the ps4 pro. It also has a controller redesign with reactive triggers. All in all, It is going to be hard for another conventional console to take its place.
