The first wave lasted for almost two centuries. In this time a slow but steady stream of progressive French settlement around Quebec and Acadia. Also Scottish Highlanders. -
The Great Migration of Canada starts
This was a period when over 800,000 european immerigrents came to Canada. This period is also known as the Great Migration from Britain. Many people had to come to Canada from Britain becasue there was not enough jobs. -
Second wave
After the War of 1812 many types of people immergrated to Canada, this included the Irish and British Army regulars . -
The Great Migration of Canada ends
At this time over 800,000 people from Europe have immergrated to Canada. -
Immigration Act was created
This act ment that all other British people that wanted to enter Canada require premission to land. -
Third wave
This wave happened prior to WWI. This wave made Canada a much more multicultural country. A large amount of Urkrainain people immergrated to Canada in this wave, also more non-English and french populations started to enter Canada at this time. -
Canadian national created
This was a separate status under the Canadian Nationals Act. This act let anyone who was born or that is married to a Canadian Citizen make them a Canadain citizen. -
Immigration Act
The immigration Act changed Canadian immigration until 2002. This acts main purpose was to focas on who should and shouldn't be aloud to enter Canada. -
Canada removed restrictions on dual citizenship
Because of this major change Canadian citizans no longer have to worry about involuntary loss of citizenship. -
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA)
This Act replaced the Immigration Act, Its the act that we are using today. -
Population
In this year 250,640 people immigrated to Canada, making the population of Canada 30,007,094. -
Apology
The Canadian government apologized to Chinise immergrents due to the past history of Chinise discrimanation. An example of this would be the Chinise Head tax, which was a tax that just affected the Canadian Chinise population. -
Future Canada
Stats Canada believes that by this time that almost half of the population over the age of 15 will be foreign born or have at least have one foreign born parent.
