    The Missouri compromise was Missouri wanted to become a slave state but then then south would have more power so the government had Maine become a free state and Missouri could become a slave state to balance power.

    The U.S.A needed a compromise. The south was upset with the north because they wanted to addmit California as a free state even though it was below the boundry line, so th government had to make both sides happy. They did this by admitting California as a free state, then they made a law that said that slaves could not be sold in Washington D.C. They also said that Utah and Mexico could vote whether or not they wanted to be a slave state or a free state, then they passed the Fugitive Slave act.

    John Brown was an abolonist. He did not agree with slavery. As a result of his belifs he and his sons and many other people led slaves to revolt. He and the other people were caught. As the leader of the revolt he was punished harshly and hanged. Most of his parnters were killed in action and all the ones that were captured were hanged along with John Brown, but some escaped including his last son and he was never captured.
