The Great Northern War
The Great Northern War started in 1700. Though there has been events leading up to it since 1660. A group called the anti-Swedish coalition was created in 1697. It included Russia, Denmark, and Saxony-Poland. This war went on until 1721. -
Decembrsit Revolt
It took place in St. Petersburg. It was a revolt against Nicholas I, by the soldiers. The soldiers felt threatened by the Nichaloas's new rules. The effect of the revolt, caused Nicholas to have new regulations to stop more liberals. -
The March Revolution
It began when over 90,000 workers went on strike. The workers protested about shortage of bread and fuel. The shouted, "Bread and Peace!" The army that was sent to shoot the protesters, shot there officers instead and joined the cause. -
Czar Alexander II Emancipates the Serfs
This was the first and most important liberal reform effected when Alexzander II was Czar. It allowed all serfs to have freedom, and it also granted serfs to have full citizens rights. -
The Assassination of Alexander II
Over his time being ruler he was a target for many assinations. The Narodnaya Volya group was the people who threw the bomb at him and he died. -
Nicholas II Abdocates the Throne
After Nicholas II father died on October 20 1894, he inherited the throne. -
Russo-Japanese War
After a disagreement with Russia, Japan attacked Russian Eastern Fleet at Port Arthur. Russia and Japan went into war. Russia was very poorly organized, which caused them to loose against Japan. -
Bloody Sunday
Unarmed citizens wanted to approach Czar Nicholas II with a petition. The citizens were shot at by the Imperial Guard, when they approached city center. More than a 100 people were killed, and about 100 or more were hurt. -
The Revolution of 1905
Bloody Sunday was the cause of this revolution. The Revolution of 1905 was filled with revolts and rioting. In October Czar Nicholas issued October Manifesto. This gave basic rights and liberty to citizens. -
World War I
World War one included all of the Great Powers. All of the Great Powers were in two different Alliances, and Central Powers. The Allies were based off of the United Kingdom, Russia, and France. Central Powers were based off of Triple Alliance of Germany, Austria-Hungry, and Italy. Both groups expanded as more nations entered the war.
